Talks and Speakers

Integrating Oracy into the Primary Language Classroom

In recent years there has been a growing buzz around the need to develop our students’ oracy skills. But what exactly is oracy and why is it such an important skill to develop? With examples from NGL’s Look series, in this presentation I’ll answer these questions before looking at how we can integrate oracy skills into the classroom and support our learners in becoming great speakers and good listeners.

Sustainable Life – Incorporating Sustainability in the ELT Classroom

Nowadays, helping to develop and nurture global citizens is the responsibility of all educators, including English language teachers, and at the heart of that is the topic of sustainability. In this presentation I’ll start by defining what is meant by education for sustainable development and why we should be incorporating it into English language curricula. Then, using examples from National Geographic Learnings Life series, I’ll show how teachers can integrate sustainability into their classroom without having to make huge changes to their teaching or syllabi.
