OUR PROGRAMS

SESSION 1

DEVELOPING VISUAL LITERACY WITH LIFE, THIRD EDITION

Students are exposed to vast amounts of visual information each day.  Visual Literacy goes beyond just seeing and understanding the world, to thinking more critically and communicating ideas visually. In this session, we’ll explore practical ways of integrating Visual Literacy into the English language classroom to help students navigate and interact effectively in the world, using examples from Life, Third Edition.

SESSION 2

DELIVERING COMPREHENSIVE AND RELIABLE LEARNING OUTCOMES

Ensuring students effectively learn, consolidate, and retain language skills is crucial in English Language Teaching. This session introduces a methodology that breaks the language learning process into four essential stages: learn, practice, use, and assess. By integrating multiple inputs and effective recycling techniques, language acquisition is significantly enhanced. The session emphasizes the importance of providing ample practice and production opportunities across diverse components, creating a comprehensive and reliable framework for effective language teaching. Examples from Life, Third Edition will be used to illustrate these concepts.

SESSION 3

WHAT’S NEW IN LIFE, THIRD EDITION?

Over ten years ago, teachers in Vietnam brought Life to their university classrooms for the first time. Since then, it has become the market leader for integrated-skills English programs in Vietnam. Life was a game-changer for teachers and their learners with its dynamic use of National Geographic photography, information-rich texts to generate authentic English, and the development of learner’s critical thinking. Now in its third edition, these core features remain central to the series and they have evolved to reflect current teaching and learning needs. The new edition pays even greater attention to goals and assessment, offers new ‘sustainable life’ project-based lessons, and targets English skills development with exam-preparation tasks. In this session, we will give the local context to the ‘Life-story’ behind its success in Vietnam before presenting a walkthrough of the Third Edition and its digital components on the Spark platform.
